Itinerary

Day 0Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Silver Palm Hotel in Arusha. You’ll meet your head guide for a trek briefing and gear check.

Day 1:Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Cave Camp

  • Elevation: 1,600m to 2,900m
  • Distance: 11 km
  • Time: 6 hours
  • Habitat: Montane Forest

Begin the 6 Days Kilimanjaro Umbwe Route through a dense, misty rainforest, climbing along a steep, winding path to reach Umbwe Cave Camp.

Day 2:Umbwe Cave Camp to Barranco Camp

  • Elevation: 2,940m to 3,970m
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Time: 4–5 hours
  • Habitat: Montane Forest

Today’s trek reveals glimpses of the Western Breach. As you rise above the tree line, the scenery shifts dramatically. Camp at Barranco, beneath towering cliffs and glacier valleys.

Day 3: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

  • Elevation: 3,950m to 3,930m
  • Distance: 7 km
  • Time: 4 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Start with a scramble up the Great Barranco Wall, then traverse alpine terrain with stunning views of the glaciers. End the day at Karanga Camp on the Kilimanjaro Umbwe Route.

Day 4: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

  • Elevation: 3,930m to 4,600m
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Time: 3 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Continue along the 6 Days Kilimanjaro Umbwe Route, ascending to Barafu Camp, the base for your final summit push. Rest early and prepare for summit day.

Day 5:Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

  • Elevation: 4,600m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak), then down to 3,100m
  • Distance: 7 km up / 23 km down
  • Time: 13–16 hours
  • Habitat: Arctic zone and alpine forest

Summit day begins at midnight. Climb in darkness to Stella Point, then reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.

Day 6:Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Return to Arusha

  • Elevation: 3,100m to 1,800m
  • Distance: 8 km
  • Time: 3–4 hours
  • Habitat: Montane Forest

Complete your 6 Days Kilimanjaro Umbwe Route with a descent through lush forest. Receive your certificate at Mweka Gate, then transfer to your hotel in Arusha.
